Graphic Design + Illustration — Cubana Stamp Collection
The Cubana Stamp Collection was inspired by the beauty and strength of the Cuban woman, the Cuban culture, and the nostalgic elegance of Cuba's 1950s vintage fashion and cultural styles through out the years. Each stamp in the collection features a hand-illustrated Cuban doll rendered in a bold, graphic style — vibrant reds, crisp whites, and deep blues evoking the colors of the Cuban flag and the warmth of the Caribbean sun. The collection celebrates femininity, heritage, and the timeless allure of a culture that has long inspired art, music, and fashion around the world.
About the Project
The Cubana Stamp Collection was inspired by the beauty and strength of the Cuban woman, the Cuban culture, and the nostalgic elegance of Cuba's 1950s vintage fashion and cultural styles through out the years. The collection celebrates femininity, heritage, and the timeless allure of a culture that has long inspired art, music, and fashion around the world.
The Challenge
This was a conceptual project created to push the boundaries of illustration and graphic design as a unified discipline. The challenge was to design a cohesive stamp collection that felt both historically rooted and visually contemporary — honoring the aesthetic of mid-century postal design while bringing it to life through modern vector illustration. Each figure had to feel distinct yet part of a unified visual language, and the overall collection needed to read as a complete, gallery-worthy body of work.
The Outcome
The result is a series of beautifully illustrated postage stamps, each one a miniature portrait of Cuban womanhood — confident, graceful, and full of character. The collection was extended into a full editorial presentation, including a magazine spread and brand identity layout, demonstrating how the illustration style could live across multiple formats. The Cubana Stamp Collection stands as a testament to the power of illustration to tell cultural stories with elegance and intention.
